Pharmacy Technician Position Overview

We are hiring multiple Pharmacy Technicians to provide remote pharmacy support in a call-heavy environment. In this role, you will spend most of your workday making outbound calls to physician offices and clinics to obtain verbal authorization for prescription refill renewals when previous outreach attempts have not received a response. You will communicate prescription information using established scripts and workflows, document call outcomes and authorizations accurately in internal systems, and escalate questions or more complex situations to the appropriate pharmacy personnel. The role involves handling a high volume of calls each day while maintaining accurate documentation and meeting established productivity, quality, and HIPAA requirements. This is a phone-based pharmacy support position rather than a traditional dispensing pharmacy technician role.

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities

  • Make approximately 100 outbound calls per day to physician offices and clinics regarding prescription refill renewals
  • Communicate prescription details clearly and professionally while following established scripts and workflows
  • Document call outcomes, verbal authorizations, and other required information accurately in internal systems
  • Escalate questions and complex cases to designated pharmacy personnel or supervisors
  • Manage a high-volume call queue while meeting productivity, accuracy, and quality expectations
  • Follow HIPAA requirements and company policies when handling protected health information
  • Participate in training, team meetings, coaching, and other required activities

Pharmacy Technician Qualifications

  • Verifiable high school diploma or GED
  • Active Texas Pharmacy Technician License; expiration date must be provided
  • Active PTCB Certification; expiration date must be provided
  • At least 1 year of high-volume call center or customer service experience; healthcare experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal communication and professional phone etiquette
  • Comfortable spending most of the workday on the phone
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer systems while documenting information accurately
  • Ability to remain focused and consistent while handling repetitive, high-volume work
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment

Pharmacy Technician Work From Home Requirements

  • Dedicated home office located in a room with a lock
  • Quiet workspace free from background noise
  • No caregiving responsibilities during scheduled work hours
  • Hard-wired Ethernet internet connection is required

Pharmacy Technician Preferred Experience

  • Pharmacy technician experience involving prescription refill workflows
  • Experience communicating with physician offices, clinics, or other healthcare providers
  • Familiarity with medical office processes, refill requests, renewals, or prior authorization workflows
